Winter tire FAQ
Are winter tires mandatory in Canada?
Quebec requires winter tires (with the 3PMSF mountain-snowflake symbol) from December 1 to March 15. British Columbia requires winter or M+S tires on many highways from October 1 to April 30. In the rest of Canada they are strongly recommended - and most insurers offer a winter tire discount.
When should I install winter tires?
Once temperatures stay below 7 degrees C - typically late October to mid November - winter compounds grip better than all-seasons even on dry pavement. Installing all four at the same time keeps handling balanced.
Studded or studless winter tires?
Studless winters handle most Canadian conditions including deep snow and cold slush. Studded tires add grip on hard ice but are provincially regulated (dates and permissions vary). Check your province's rules before choosing studded.
Should I get a winter tire and wheel package?
A dedicated set of winter wheels pays for itself in 2-3 seasons of avoided mounting/balancing fees, protects your summer wheels from salt, and makes the seasonal swap a 30-minute driveway job. Our configurator builds fitment-guaranteed packages for your exact vehicle.
