They feature a heat-treated steel construction to ensure long-lasting wear resistance, and they come with a zinc-plated finish to outlast the elements. This particular S-hook has a 17/32" diameter and offers a gross trailer weight capacity of 7,600 lbs. For added safety, it is tested in accordance with SAE J684. Remember, when attaching safety chains, the chains should be cross underneath the trailer coupler, and each hook and chain must be rated to meet or exceed the gross weight of the trailer.

Receiver hitches are one of the most popular types of trailer hitches on the market today. They are highly versatile and can be mounted onto the frame of your tow vehicle. It has a receiver tube opening that receives the shank of a ball mount or other type of insert. Receiver Hitches are vehicle specific and divided into 5 classes according to the gross towing weight (GTW) capacity and size of the tube opening.
Class 1 Receiver Hitches: 1 ¼” x 1 ¼” receiver tube opening/fixed tongue and up to 2,000 lbs. GTW capacity. Perfect for small crossovers and passenger cars.
Class 2 Receiver Hitches: 1 ¼” x 1 ¼” receiver tube opening with 3,500 lbs. GTW capacity. Designed for pickups, minivans, small SUVs, crossovers, and full-size sedans.
Class 3 Receiver Hitches: 2” x 2” receiver tube opening with a GTW capacity of 8,000 lbs. (expandable up to 12,000 lbs. when used in combination with a weight distribution system). Can be mounted on full-sized pickups and SUVs.
Class 4 Receiver Hitches: 2” x 2” receiver tube opening with a GTW capacity of 10,000 lbs. (expandable up to 14,000 lbs. when used in combination with a weight distribution system). Can be mounted on full-sized pickups and SUVs.
